We couldn’t have the celebration without “X”! An XML sitemap is a piece of code that stays on your web server and lists all of the URLs that are significant to your website’s structure. It’s similar to a “floor plan” for the site, and it’s very useful when the site is updated. It also aids web crawlers from search engines in determining the structure of a site so that they can crawl it more intelligently.
Crawling does not guarantee indexing, and sitemaps do not guarantee that all links will be crawled. A sitemap, on the other hand, is still the greatest way to ensure that a search engine learns about your complete site. It’s like asking, “Hey, Google, have a look at this great website.” (Learn more about XML sitemaps and how to create one here.)
